If you own a small business, you may or may not already offer your employees benefits. If you offer group insurance, you know the value that benefits can bring. If you don’t, you may be wondering if the cost of providing benefits is worth it.
Employee longevity is important for your business’s success, and providing group insurance to your employees contributes to that success. Due to many of the tax advantages associated with group health insurance, the cost may be less than you think.
This video will help you understand if group insurance works for you. It may or may not – you have to decide, but this video walks you through the ‘pros and cons.’
How to get a quote
To get started you have two options. You can get a very high level Quick Group Quote, which takes only a few moments of your time to request. However, you sacrifice accuracy. Think of this as a ‘Ballpark’ indication.
Option two, getting a more accurate quote, simply takes more time and effort – you must create an employee census: a listing of the employees, spouses, and children that would need to be covered. This gives insurers an idea of who and how many they would be covering. Below are two links to download a census form, either in Excel or .PDF format, whichever you prefer. Instructions for submitting are included on the forms.
The above census forms will provide the information for you to get competitive quotes from the major carriers here in Texas: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Aetna, United Healthcare, and Assurant. It is only the starting point. Generally, once you select a plan and rates are determined, your employees typically decide whether they want to participate in the plan, and elect to cover their spouses, children, and other elections, like Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Disability, Dental, or Vision, depending on what you feel you would like to offer.
The process is iterative between you, your employees, and us, until you decide on a plan, and we have investigated the costs and tax benefits to you.
If you would like to speak to someone about group plans, please fill out the contact information form below. Also indicate whether you would like to speak with someone via phone or email. Different strokes for different folks!
What if you currently offer Group Insurance?
Do you currently offer Group Insurance? You face a different set of issues than someone who is just starting out. You’ve already decided that the value of the insurance outweighs the costs (if you haven’t, you might want to watch the video above). And you are most interested in providing the best insurance for the least money. And… of understanding how the new Health Care law might affect you.
Your process might be a little different from someone just starting out, but it is still a good idea to complete a census (template links are below) and get some competitive quotes. It is possible that you already have a completed census you may have used before, in which case, just send it us at email@example.com, and we will take care of getting it into the right format and running your quotes.
If you currently offer Group Insurance to your employees, the following video walks you through many of these issues. (Video is currently in production – coming soon.)
